The Ellicott City Restoration Foundation is pleased to announce a joint venture with Tea on the Tiber. The Foundation will offer its Literary Tour of Ellicott City at Tea on the Tiber on the first Friday of each month, April through November. The presentation by a costumed guide begins at 7:00PM. The Ellicott City Restoration Foundation will offer a stationary version of their Literary Pub Crawl at the popular historic district tea house, Tea on the Tiber located at 8081 Main Street. A costumed guide will talk about the famous people who have visited Ellicott City and what they had to say while in town or about the town. While listening to the stories, patrons will enjoy a scone, a scoop of ice cream and a hot or cold beverage of their choice. The tour focuses on historical characters such as: Washington Irving, H. L. Mencken, Henry Clay, Almira Hart Lincoln Phelps, Davy Crockett, Robert E. Lee and others.
The cost is $25.00 per person and includes tax and a modest tip for the servers at Tea on the Tiber. The guides are volunteers and are allowed to accept tips if anyone wishes to offer one. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the programs of the Foundation whose mission is the historic preservation and economic revitalization of the Ellicott City Historic District.
